Hydrock have been appointed by Taylor Woodrow to undertake the demolition and remediation of a 7 Ha former cement works at Chinnor in Oxfordshire. Having supported Taylor Woodrow through the land appraisal and acquisition process on issues including contamination, slope stability and waste management licence surrender, Hydrock were pleased to be awarded this turnkey contract to deliver a clean, validated platform suitable for the landmark mixed-use scheme which was proposed by Taylor Woodrow at this spectacular site.

Hydrock Director Dr Mike Higgins says "From the first time we went to this site we knew it had immense challenges, in land quality and geotechnics, that's why we were so keen to help out. Having appraised the site in 2006 and undertaken extensive investigations at the site to assess and quantify the site issues and risks, it was pleasing to be entrusted to deliver a large £1m plus 'design & remediate' scheme, which allows Taylor Woodrow to concentrate on the planning & design aspects of the scheme which will sit on top of our clean, reclaimed site".
The former cement works are part of a 70 hectare site incorporating chalk quarries and a former landfill, for which Hydrock have undertaken detailed groundwater risk assessments allowing the surrender of the Waste Management Licence.
