Hydrock's growth plans for 2008 have just received a major boost with the acquisition of structural engineering practice, Structures1, which brings the total headcount for the group to 370 and a projected turnover of over £40m for the current financial year. Initial Heads of Agreement were signed on 27th June and following a due diligence process, the acquisition of the Bristol and Gloucester-based 17-strong practice was completed on 31st July.
"We have been working hard over the past few weeks to make this happen and we are delighted that Structures1 Managing Director Jerry King, his associates and staff will be part of Hydrock," says Hydrock's Managing Director, Dr Brian McConnell. "The team's skills and experience will complement our own and bring more and larger opportunities both for Hydrock and for our staff. The two companies have similar cultures and I believe we have a great future together. This is great news for all of us within the two companies."
Structures1 has been in business for nearly 20 years and has an extensive experience of diverse projects across a wide range of sectors including Education, Community and Healthcare, Residential, Industrial and Commercial, Sports and Performing Arts and Historic Structures. It is intended that Structures1 will keep its name and its current offices and operate as a trading division of Hydrock.
The services of the amalgamated structural design team of 23 staff will be part of the range of consultancy and specialist contracting services offered by Hydrock which includes: geo-environmental, geotechnical, land quality, environment, infrastructure, civil and structural engineering, building services design, contamination remediation, land stabilisation and drilling. Hydrock was established in 1995 and now operates from bases in Bristol, Bath, Gloucester, Stoke-on-Trent, Northampton, and Plymouth.
