On Friday 5th September, over 250 Hydrock staff and clients braved atrocious weather conditions to take part in Hydrock's annual team-building event. A wide mix of companies was represented, including developers, contractors, project managers, property agents, lawyers, engineers, housebuilders, architects, local authorities and other government organisations.
The NextGear Challenge was based on the TV show 'Top Gear', with a range of driving activities including Segways, Argo Cats, Rage Buggies and Mini-Quads, in addition to the 'Soapbox Derby' where teams designed and raced their own go-karts. The day's activities were followed by a barbeque, live comedy from Rod Woodward and an acoustic music set to round off the evening.
Despite some torrential rain and plenty of mud, the day was judged to have been a great success and enhanced its reputation as a major networking event within the industry.
'I hadn't appreciated what a massive event it would be and you all did brilliantly to make the day such a success, despite the hugely difficult weather conditions.'
Bruce Roxburgh, Roxburgh Milkins
'It was a superb day, first one for me, and laying on the 'interesting' weather like that was a clever idea. The organisation was all the more impressive for that.'
Don McKenzie, Penspen
'I would like to thank all those involved with organising the event on Friday. Despite the weather I had a fantastic time and am only sorry that I had to leave straight after the events.'
Ian Lavis, David McLean Homes
'Thanks for a great afternoon and evening, much fun was had.'
Richard Tose, Mansell Construction Services
