Project: Emergency Stabilisation of Combe Down Stone Mines, Bath
Site Description: Approximately 40 acres of historic stone mines, much of which is under residential areas and highways. Ground cover typically 6-8 metres and a serious geotechnical hazard to the houses and infrastructure above
Services Provided: Hydrock personnel have been involved in this project for the past 18 years, initially as consultants involved in surveying, mapping, drilling investigations, conditions monitoring, hazard assessment and for the past 5 ½ years, with a team of 90 miners, carrying out emergency stabilisation works.
Outcome: Hydrock has worked with the many stakeholders involved in this project to date, to provide a safe, best value solution whilst minimising the environmental and community impact.
