Client: Persimmon Homes
Project: Emergency Riverbank works and Permanent Wall Solution, Worcester
Site Description: The job began as a survey of an existing riverside wall, but when the wall collapsed threatening the adjacent block of flats, Hydrock was asked to carry out emergency works to stabilise the riverbank and design a permanent new wall solution.
Services Provided: Survey of existing wall condition, Emergency wall stabilisation works, Design of retaining wall, Consultancy advice during construction.
Outcome: After consultation with the Environment Agency, the Local Planning Authority and Lower Avon Navigational Trust, permission was obtained to build a permanent retaining wall. Hydrock produced a design together with contract documentation and supervised the construction of the wall. The wall consisted of a sheet piled foundation, with a new reinforced concrete wall faced with the stone to match the adjacent historic bridge
