Project: Geotechnical Retaining Wall Stabilisation, Kidderminster
Site Description: The client had evacuated a number of residents of Mill Street, Kidderminster, due to the threat of collapse of a 3m high retaining wall. Hydrock acted as Principal Contractor and completed both the design and build of a brick-faced, reinforced earth retaining wall, rock buttress removal, scaling of the rock face, brick-built parapet wall construction and reinstatement of the highway.
Services Provided: Geotechnical, structural and infrastructure design services. Principal Contractor for construction of the works.
Outcome: Combining geotechnical and structural design and contracting expertise enabled a cost effective solution for construction at the top of the rock face. Open communication kept concerned residents informed of progress throughout the works, and residents were returned to their homes on programme.
