Hydrock is a British-owned engineering design, energy and sustainability consultancy, with social value running through everything we do.

The backstory

  • 1995: founded by our current CEO, Dr Brian McConnell
  • 2008: acquired Bristol-based Structures One as part of an expansion of our multi-disciplinary service offering
  • 2014: completed investment in Nuclear Management Consultancy Ltd (NMCL) to establish prominence in the nuclear sector working with operators and regulators in all areas of safety management
  • 2017: expanded service offering through launch of teams specialising in smart energy and sustainability, and fire safety engineering
  • 2019: acquired Yorkshire-based MRB Consulting Engineers as part of an expansion in northern England and our building services and energy and sustainability capability
  • 2020: Ronnie McCombe, a former senior Partner and member of the Board at KPMG, appointed as our Non-Executive Chairman
  • 2021: acquired Kelly Taylor & Associates (KTA), the preeminent building services and sustainability consultancy in the logistics and distribution sector
  • 2021: two new main board appointments made with Catriona Tully appointed as Chief Commercial Officer and Dr Scott Elliott, promoted to Chief Operating Officer
