We have three important communities: our clients and their stakeholders; our people; and the wider communities in which we work. Our focus is on delivering safe, sustainable, and quality outcomes for everyone in these communities.
Our clients and their stakeholders
We are a business known for both our dynamic and entrepreneurial approach, and our technical excellence.
As a client, you can be assured of two critical things. Firstly, when you ask us for advice and input in relation to your project, you can be certain that we will be with you for the long term. We will take ownership of the challenges, collaborate with you and other project team members, and guide you every step of the way. The second thing you can be assured of is that Hydrock is a business where you get to meet and talk directly to the experts. Our senior team is hands-on, contributing fully to the delivery of projects.
In many areas of our work we also play an important role representing you, our client, to a whole range of stakeholders, including local authorities, the Environment Agency, regulatory bodies, community groups etc. We pride ourselves on our professional approach to these situations, ensuring our presentation of information is clear, concise and inclusive. We listen, reflect and ensure that the final outcomes are balanced and considered.
For our people, the culture of our business makes Hydrock a way of life where shared experiences and the importance of time dedicated to our families are central to our values. Our emphasis on this is reflected by our accreditation with Investors in People and by regularly achieving a high ranking in the Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For; we have been in the top 30 for three years running.
We place importance on supporting and encouraging the fitness and well-being of our people. Fresh fruit is delivered every week to each office, every employee is entitled to an annual healthy living bonus, and we actively support participation in sponsored events.
In 2015 we celebrated the company’s 20th anniversary by inviting all staff to take part in a two-day event in Mallorca, which included a formal banquet dinner (pictured).
We have an excellent safety culture embedded through our ‘Safe People, Safe Site, Safe Home’ initiative and we support the professional development of all our staff, with an emphasis on a ‘grow-your-own’ approach towards early career professionals who are offered opportunities, training and mentoring.
Our aim is to create a company where our staff are valued, praised and rewarded.
We place a strong emphasis on supporting our local communities and charities that are close to the hearts of our people.
All staff can take at least one paid day per year to undertake some form of practical activity in support of charitable causes. In recent times this has included cycling over the Alps in aid of Hope Against Cancer, decorating the headquarters of a cancer care facility close to our offices in Bristol, and entering our highly competitive teams to take part in industry organised triathlons, in particular the JLL Property Triathlon (pictured) in Windsor and Manchester which raises large sums of money for charity.
In addition, we embed environmental and sustainability principles into our culture and practices. Through our technical skills and expertise we help our clients make a positive contribution to the world by creating sustainable communities and environments, for example by maximising reuse of materials on site during remediation and enabling works, by encouraging the use of sustainable travel plans, and through the design of energy efficient buildings.
Within our own business, by way of example, we use electric and hybrid vehicles as ‘pool cars’ to attend meetings, we use renewable energy sources to heat and cool key office locations, we have video conferencing facilities in offices, and we have clear and active recycling programmes at each location.
