Alex Johnston Technical Director, Civil & Structural Engineering

As an experienced structural engineer with over 20 years’ track record working on major national and international projects, Alex joined Hydrock in 2021 to work with and advise London-based clients in particular, as part of our multi-disciplinary team.

Frequently taking the role of Project Director, Alex takes responsibility for leading structural and civil engineering teams through every stage of a project, from concept to completion on site. He also manages multi-disciplinary delivery teams and his sector experience includes commercial, residential, stadia, education and aviation.

Alex is renowned for developing innovative engineering solutions in live environments and has a keen interest in the re-use of buildings to reduce the carbon impact associated with demolition and new build design and construction.

Alex’s career track record includes Millharbour in London Docklands – two residential towers with podium bases and a shared basement; Battersea Power Station Phase 3; Millbrook Park, North London – a variety of multi-storey apartment blocks and basement car parking across some of the phases; Olympic Stadium Transformation, Lea Valley. Internationally, his projects include Msheireb Downtown Doha, Phases 2 & 3 in Qatar; Dallas Fort Worth Alliance Airport in Texas and the FC Cincinnati Stadium.
