Peter is our energy sector lead and divisional director for our highly-regarded specialist nuclear consultancy business.

Peter has worked in the nuclear sector for over 17 years, combining his scientific background in Earth Sciences with a passion for energy transition, decarbonisation and nuclear energy. He is highly regarded for his technical competence and ability to think strategically, which has resulted in him contributing to a range of nationally significant nuclear infrastructure and radioactive waste strategy development projects.

He has worked for a wide range of nuclear sector clients in relation to new build, generating and decommissioning assets, including a number of on-site secondments from which he has gained technical, project management and commercial experience.

He currently manages Hydrock's nuclear consultancy business, including a range of key client management and delivery responsibilities, and provides an important interface with Hydrock's Board and other key stakeholders.

During his career, Peter’s responsibilities have included leading the development and integration of innovative waste management solutions, the preparation and assessment of disposability cases, the development of governance arrangements for Higher Activity Waste (HAW), the environmental assessment of projects (including BAT assessment), and the provision of technical, bidding and business development support to corporate initiatives.

In October 2019, Peter was appointed to the UK's Nuclear Industry Council (NIC), a well deserved accolade that has provided him with an opportunity to shape the strategic direction of the UK’s nuclear industry.

As our energy sector lead, Peter is overseeing how all our teams embrace the energy transformation agenda and help clients from all backgrounds respond to the climate challenge, and adapt to be resilient and deliver low-carbon outcomes. Our key focus is on ensuring that we deliver the highest standard of sustainability outcomes, embrace energy efficiency and carbon management initiatives, and being a force for good in all of the communities in which we work.

In 2022, Peter was selected to attend the UK Green Building Council's 'Recalibrate' programme which provides a transformative sustainability journey for C-suite executives to get a fresh perspective on the catalysts for change in the energy and sustainability arena.
