With an outstanding track record in executive management, Richard joined Hydrock in 2018 as our non-executive Chairman. In this new role, Richard adds his wealth of experience in both business management and the construction sector to our existing Board as we drive forward with the next stage of our growth.
Richard enjoyed a 39-year career with BAM Construct UK and ultimately held the role of Managing Director of Construction from 2010 to his retirement in 2016 of this £900m turnover business.
Informed and influenced both by his early career on construction sites in the 1970s and 1980s, and by his experience of company acquisitions in the 1990s and early 2000s, as Managing Director of UK Construction, Richard is credited with introducing a variety of transformational behavioural change activities that promote improvement in business performance and team working. His approach created a workplace culture centred around inclusion and collaboration, and a complete focus on understanding and delivering an outstanding customer experience.
Richard is a graduate of the INSEAD Business School in Fontainebleau, France having completed the Advanced Management Programme. He was a member of the CBI London Council for seven years up to 2016 and spoke frequently across the Royal BAM Group on the important links between culture, organisational behaviours and business success.
