Buildings Regulations Lead
We have a fantastic opportunity to join Hydrock, now Stantec’s successful Building’s Business Unit as Building regulations Lead. This is a unique and varied role, collaborating with our Fire, Structures and MEP teams to ensuring projects fulfill applicable legislations and support with wider business development activities.
The successful candidate will work closely with our discipline directors to combine each disciplines unique policies and procedures to create a consistent process moving forwards, ensuring we are meeting our obligations under the Building Regulations, Building Safety Act (BSA) and secondary legislation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set Hydrock, now Stantec’s policies across the Fire, Structural and MEP disciplines in relation to fulfilling the requirements under the Building Regulations, Building Safety Act and Secondary Legislation
- Audit the aforementioned policies
- Liaise with each discipline in the Buildings Business Unit to support competency statements and requirements
- Work with the company L&D leads to influence how competency is developed, ensured and demonstrated throughout each discipline
- Ensure Hydrock, now Stantec’s disciplines are implementing a consistent and uniform approach to their obligations under applicable legislation
- Support the clients of the Buildings Business Unit on fulfilling their obligations under the Building Regulations, BSA and secondary legislation
- Support with the business development activities of Fire, Structures and MEP where there is direct Building Safety Act support required
- Ensure deliverables produced by the Fire, Structure and MEP disciplines meet the requirement of the Building Regulations, BSA and secondary legislation (no responsibility for engineering/ design under each discipline in meeting the functional requirements of the Building Regulations).
- Provide internal and external CPDs in relation to Building Regulations, BSA and Secondary Legislation.
- Enable Fire, Structures and MEP to win and deliver work on HRBs, supporting on the specific requirements of that category of building.
Experience:
- We welcome applications from experienced engineers who have a proven track record working within fire, MEP or structural engineering on a variety of building services projects.
- Experience of successful business development within an engineering design consultancy.
- In-depth knowledge and a passion for regulation, the buildings safety act and industry best codes, practices and regulations.
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal abilities.
