Role

We deliver Geo-Environmental and Geotechnical services including, but not limited to, design and management of site investigations (including on-site supervision, logging and sampling); interpretative report writing, qualitative and quantitative risk assessment, earthworks specifications, and slope stability analysis.

The role will include working as part of integrated project teams of geo-environmental and geotechnical specialists and with colleagues in related disciplines (civils, structural, mechanical & electrical engineering).

Closer to the start of the placement we would be able to provide a list of projects that you could use as the basis of your dissertation but the type of projects we work all look at the ground model and the site-specific challenges in relation to foundations, human health assessment, and wider environmental risk (Controlled waters assessment), along with requirement for remediation, material management, earthworks, and various geotechnical design requirements.  These elements are considered in projects involving new schools/school extensions, rock face stability assessments, and large commercial developments. 

The attributes we expect you to bring to the role and company: 

  • Ability to understand and create geological ground models in both 2d and 3d.
  • Good theoretical knowledge of relevant and up to date British Standards (eg BS-EN 5930), Industry Guidance (eg EA/NRW LC:RM).
  • An understanding of the process around carrying out Phase 1 and Phase 2 Reports.
  • Self-motivated team player with excellent interpersonal skills. 
  • A proactive and independent thinker with an enthusiastic approach to work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the proficient use of Microsoft based IT Packages. 
  • Full UK Driving Licence (Preferable).
