Senior or Principal Geo-Environmental Consultant
Exciting opportunity for a Senior or Principal Geo-Environmental Consultantto join our team in our growing Newcastle office, as part of our successful national Geo Division.
As an experienced Senior or Principal Geo-Environmental Consultant, you will be responsible for the design, implementation and management of geo-environmental assignments including (but not limited to): desk studies, ground investigations (factual and interpretative), human health, groundwater and gas risk assessments, coal mining risk assessments, preparation of remediation method statements and validation of remedial works. You will also help support the wider team working with junior colleagues to mentor and develop their professional understanding. Additionally, there will be an opportunity to support the production of fee proposals and business development.
Your role will include working in a day-to-day management role as part of integrated project teams of specialists. You will be required to review factual report information, undertake project management duties including client liaison and financial aspects such as invoicing as well as both preparing and checking RAMS.
The attributes we expect you to bring to the role and company:
- BSc, BEng or higher qualification in a relevant subject (environmental science, geology, engineering) and a Chartered Environmentalist/Geologist/Engineer (or working towards).
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in a geo-environmental consultancy role.
- Background in a broad range of engineering geology and geo-environmental engineering work including Desk Studies, Coal Mining and Non-Coal Mining Risk Assessments, Ground Investigations, Remediation Method Statements/Strategies, Remediation Supervision, and ideally a founding knowledge of Waste Classification.
- Background in undertaking Tier 1 and Tier 2 qualitative contaminated land risk assessments.
- Some basic geotechnical knowledge (i.e. assessment of appropriate bearing capacity, settlement analysis, working knowledge of earthworks, etc.) would be advantageous.
- Proven working knowledge of relevant standards including BS 5930, BS10175, CIRIA 552, 665, 733 & 758, BS8485, BRE-SD1, LCRM and WM3.
- Ability to soil and ideally core log in accordance with BS5930:2015+A1:2020.
- Background in scoping, conducting and interpreting ground investigations for a wide variety of schemes, including liaising with sub-contractors and clients assisting in the delivery of projects.
- Good understanding of Health and Safety requirements for Ground Investigations.
- Demonstrable skills in writing accurate, concise, clear and well-constructed technical reports, reviewing the work of others, assessing the technical approach and determining compliance with relevant guidance and the client’s requirements.
- Self-motivated team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
- A proactive and independent thinker with an enthusiastic approach to work.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
