Civil and structural design underway for new homes on former Nestlé site in west London

Former Nestle site Hayes news

10th September, 2018

Having supported Barratt London to secure planning for nearly 1,400 new homes on the site of a former Nestlé factory in Hayes, west London, Hydrock is now engaged in the engineering design for the new apartments.

The Nestlé coffee factory in Hayes closed in 2014 and was acquired by industrial development specialist Segro in 2015. Across the 12ha site, Segro will develop 21,000 sq m of light industrial space across four units, while Barratt London will build 1,386 apartments across several blocks ranging from four to eleven storeys with 35% classed as affordable.

Working with Barratt London and Makower Architects, who delivered the masterplan for the whole scheme, Hydrock initially supported on the pre-planning work. This included civil and structural engineering advice, the geo-environmental site investigation and input into the Environmental Statement.

With planning secured at the end of 2017, we are now supporting Barratt London with the civil and structural engineering design of the first phase of residential development. The overall project is scheduled for completion in 2023.

The site is next to Hayes and Harlington railway station, which will become a Crossrail station in 2019.
