Carl Britland

Based in Birmingham, Carl leads our civil and structural engineering design team in the Midlands, delivering projects across many sectors including education, residential, technology, logistics and commercial.

He is a Chartered Member of both the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Institution of Structural Engineers. He has also assisted in running a course for the Institution of Structural Engineers helping to prepare graduates for their professional examinations.

Since joining Hydrock in 2014, Carl has led the design of technically complex and innovative solutions with projects ranging from the award-winning structural design of the West Midlands Construction University Technical College; the new Prodrive facility; a major distribution centre for the Co-op; and English National Ballet on London City Island. He is also experienced at working on frameworks including supporting ISG on the DfE framework and leading the delivery of a wide-range of improvement projects on the Coventry University framework.

His career track record also includes the BREEAM 'outstanding' Innovation Office in Leeds, Birmingham City Council’s offices at Aston, BMW Mini plant Oxford and a number of large mixed used schemes around Birmingham’s Eastside.

Through his extensive project management, framework and engineering experience, Carl fully understands the importance of open and clear communication with clients and all interested parties. He ensures the needs and wants are met and realised, delivering value in a timely and cost-effective manner. This has enabled him to build strong relationships with developers, architects, local authorities and contractors across the region.
