Based in Leeds, Martin delivers geotechnical and geo-environmental expertise on projects across northern England.
Martin is experienced in coordinating all stages of projects, including feasibility reports, ground investigations, improvement schemes, earthworks design and detailed foundation design. His geotechnical experience is in the water and utilities industries, and he has specialist skills in the nuclear sector with respect to decommissioning and site waste management.
As a certified Project Manager, his career track record includes managing large geotechnical projects and frameworks in nuclear decommissioning at Sellafield and Dounreay, in addition to projects under frameworks for Homes England, Network Rail and the Environment Agency.
Martin is registered as a Geotechnical Adviser with the Institution of Civil Engineers UK Register of Ground Engineering Professionals (RoGEP). He is also a Specialist in Land Condition (SiLC) and a Chartered Engineer, Scientist, Environmentalist and Geologist.
Martin was awarded the George Stephenson Gold Medal by the Institution of Civil Engineers in 2018 for his work on the Wallasea Island Wild Coast project in Essex. This was heralded as one of the UK’s best examples of sustainability in civil engineering as 98% of the excavated tunnelling material derived from the Crossrail project was reused – with almost half of it shipped – to construct Europe’s largest nature reserve.
In May 2020, Martin was accepted as a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers.
