Dr Brian McConnell
As Chief Executive and founder of Hydrock, Brian has led the growth of the business for over 20 years with a focus on technical expertise, a 'can-do' attitude, strong leadership skills and determination. His experience of working on numerous projects around the world has been instrumental in shaping and building Hydrock to its current size and strength.
As a specialist in the nuclear and energy sectors, Brian has been chairman of the Nuclear Industry Association New Build Group. The aim of the New Build Group is to help build a strong supply chain to support the construction of the UK’s new fleet of modern nuclear power stations, with the ultimate aim being to provide low carbon energy for the future. He has led Hydrock to the forefront of this work through large-scale contracts, for example with EDF at Hinkley.
Brian is committed to creating a company with a strong culture and unique values – one that recognises the contribution made by its employees. This approach has made Hydrock a top employer with a consistently high ranking in the Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For survey.
Brian’s primary goal is to build a strong British engineering company with an ingrained entrepreneurial spirit, achieved by recruiting the best technical people, involving them in great projects and ensuring that they enjoy working at Hydrock.
