Michael is a highly experienced and qualified assessor on the environmental, carbon and wellbeing attributes of buildings across all sectors.

He plays a key role in any design team assisting projects and clients to understand the whole life carbon impacts of a building. He also advises on the direction required in the design and operation of a building to secure the appropriate credits and rankings for a wide range of highly-regarded benchmarking tools.

Michael is a CIBSE Low Carbon Consultant and a qualified BREEAM Assessor for new construction, refurbishment and fit-out, communities and infrastructure. He is also a WELL Accredited Professional, FITWEL Ambassador, ActiveScore Accredited Professional, LEED Green Associate, a BREEAM Advisory Professional and an assessor for Code for Sustainable Homes and the Home Quality Mark.

Proficient in using One Click LCA software, Michael delivers life cycle assessments and whole life embodied carbon assessments of buildings. His deep experience of all types of benchmarking tools is a great asset to clients who want to create high-performing real estate to meet their net zero targets, attract occupiers and achieve asset value.

His most recent work includes BREEAM assessments and building life cycle assessments for new 150,000 sqm production studios and office space in Sunderland; advice to reach BREEAM ‘Excellent’ on a 184-bed purpose-built student accommodation block in Edinburgh; BREEAM advice for a new purpose-built facility in south Wales to help local industry in their transition to a low-carbon future; and BREEAM assessments of a number of schools across Wales.
