Alastair leads our infrastructure and civil engineering design team in Hale, Manchester with a particular focus on the logistics and distribution sector.

He has over 25 years of experience in the design and supervision of a wide range of schemes from conception to completion in both the public and private sector. This has included feasibility and detailed design of highway schemes including associated footway and drainage requirements, highway negotiations for Section 278 and Section 38 proposals, contract preparation, site supervision and contract management.

In a career that has included working both consultancy-side and for a leading city council, Alastair is highly proficient in the detailed design of highway proposals, and has a strong track record negotiating with National Highways, Network Rail and local highway authorities to secure permissions under the most difficult of circumstances. In addition, he specialises in the subsequent contract/project management of schemes on site to ensure projects are delivered in line with the client’s requirements and expectations.

His career experience includes detailed design of highway modifications associated with bridge structures affected by the electrification works to Network Rail lines in the north-west; input into the public realm design work in the NOMA district in Manchester; detailed design of Section 278 highway works to support access to various proposed supermarket developments; and projects for major logistics operators across the UK.
