Matthew Ace

Regional Director, Wales

Cardiff

BEng (Hons)

Matt joined Hydrock in 2015 and is our Regional Director for Wales overseeing our relationships, client development, profile and delivery of multi-disciplinary engineering services to clients across Wales and beyond.

He has a wide range of experience in the design, development and construction of a variety of structures, from mixed-use residential, office and leisure developments to marine structures, heritage assets, healthcare and education facilities.

Matt is a strong advocate of sustainable structural design, and the re-use and re-purpose of existing spaces for new uses to minimise carbon impacts. He is well-versed in the design of steel, timber, concrete, masonry, aluminium, glass and tensile fabric structures, and is passionate about ensuring that structural design naturally integrates with the architectural intent and the building services design.

He has a particular passion for the repair, restoration and modernisation of historic buildings and structures that require a sympathetic approach, combining traditional and modern structural design, and in Wales his team have been instrumental on projects including Plaza, Port Talbot and the Palace Theatre, Swansea.

Matt has been involved with many of our high-profile Welsh projects including Llys Cadwyn, Bay Technology Centre, Hafod-Morfa Copperworks and the new all-through schools in Porth and Tonypandy as part of the Welsh Government 21st Century School Investment Programme.
