Here’s a fantastic opportunity for you to join our highly experienced Civils and Structures team as an Apprentice Civil Engineer.

You will learn how to design sustainable buildings of all shapes, sizes and uses; from hospitals to homes, from data centres to offices, and so much more!

Our apprenticeship programme allows an opportunity to study for an academic qualification as well as gaining professional experience on our projects at the same time! You will be able to develop your technical skills through a variety of projects that you will take on as well as being supported in the development of your softer skills through our early careers program: ‘The Learning Curve’. We are looking to welcome an apprentice who is eager to learn and develop a career in sustainable building design.

What the role looks like

You will: 

  • Work with us full time
  • Attend UWE Bristol for part-time study on day release - one day (7 hours) per week 
  • Gain a Civil Engineering Level 6 Qualification (equivalent to a degree). 

What you will learn with us

  • Preparation of simple calculation packs to support design development
  • Preparing analysis models for structural design 
  • Arrange and attend meetings, take minutes and distribute actions
  • Attending and contributing to project team meetings
  • Managing own workload to meet project and study deadlines
  • Liaising with internal and external team members, developing relationships and people skills
  • Gaining experience in the preparation of reports, drawings and specifications
  • 3D modelling with Revit

What will you need to succeed?

  • 112 UCAS points or equivalent
  • Grade C or above in Mathematics plus a pass in one of the following subjects: Biology; Chemistry; Computing/Computer Science; Design and Technology; Electronics; Engineering; ICT; Further Mathematics; Music Technology; Physics; Statistics. Mathematics requirement can also be met by the Cambridge Pre-U Mathematics at Merit 3. Points from A-level General Studies and AS-level subjects (not taken onto full A-level) can be included towards overall tariff. You must have a minimum of two A-levels.
  • GCSE grades 9 to 4/ A* to C in subjects such as maths and English or equivalent experience/qualification. 
  • Genuine interest in a career in civil engineering 
  • A keen attitude to learning and enthusiasm to achieve in the workplace and in your studies
  • Strong numeracy skills
  • Confident communication skills both written and verbal
  • Enjoy learning how to use the latest digital technology.
