We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Transport Planner to join our established Transport division!

Based in our established Leeds office, you will be joining a highly engaged team who love what they do! Our team have a wealth of experience and will offer support, development opportunities and expert advice. Working collaboratively as part of our team you will have a wide variety of project work and practice with a broad range of clients in the private and public sectors.

Your role will include:

You will be an experienced professional, engaged in a wide variety of transport projects including technical support for new developments, masterplanning, urban regeneration, and sustainable transport projects.

Your role will include:   

  • Delivering project work that is commercially successful and of an excellent technical standard.
  • Exercising independent judgement to brief and deliver technical work with colleagues and clients.
  • Developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with statutory authorities, clients, and collaborators.
  • Providing mentoring, informal guidance and support in the development of junior members of the team, managing and checking their contributions to projects.
  • Contributing to identifying new client opportunities and business development.

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • Proven experience in all aspects of transport-related development planning work, including preparation of Transport Assessments / Statements / Travel Plans and input to Environmental Statements, preliminary highway design and masterplanning / placemaking.
  • Postgraduate qualification in transport planning/engineering or a degree in a related discipline and ideally chartered (this is not a pre-requisite and we welcome applications from people not chartered).
  • Working knowledge of relevant transport modelling programs – Junctions (ARCADY/PICADY), LinSig, TRANSYT and TRICS.
  • Understanding of the principles and outputs of microsimulation and strategic transport models (Aimsun, VISSIM/PARAMICS, Saturn) would be beneficial.
  • Strong written and communication skills to support technical project delivery and collaboration.
  • Proven ability to present complex analysis effectively and strong analytical, numeracy and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience of managing medium/large independent projects or workstreams within larger projects, and preparing bids and fee proposals.
  • Ability to contribute to technical capability of the team in emerging trends.
