Hydrock adds leading technical specialist to its civil and structural team in Yorkshire

We have appointed Leeds-based Sia Taghaboni as Technical Director, providing national support to our civil and structural designers and consultants.

Sia joins Hydrock from Fairhurst where he was Technical Manager of the structures team. With a MSc in International Construction Management and Engineering, his 20-year career to date has given him vast multidisciplinary experience in sectors including commercial, healthcare, industrial, residential and retail.

Sia is a Chartered engineer and an active member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStuctE).

On joining Hydrock, Sia Taghaboni commented:

Sia is passionate about embracing environment-centred structural design by advising on how to tackle critical issues such as carbon footprint, material consumption and wastage. He has been involved with a number of significant building refurbishment projects, which include Victoria Centre, Nottingham and Radisson Red, Liverpool, and firmly believes that recycling, reusing and responsibly adapting existing buildings holds the key to successfully reaching collective net zero targets.

Commenting on the appointment, Jason Walker, Divisional Director, civil and structural engineering at Hydrock, said:

Away from Hydrock, Sia was recently appointed Chair of the IStructE Yorkshire Regional Group. Part of his role will be steering local members to carry out their professional activities in line with the institution’s recently revised code of conduct.
