Hydrock is delighted to welcome Matthew Pygott as a senior carbon consultant to our Smart Energy and Sustainability (SES) division.
Based in our Leeds office, Matthew joins with a vast amount of experience in a range of projects, from platform construction to major infrastructure projects such as HS2 and the Edinburgh Waverley Station Upgrade. He will focus on supporting existing and new clients with the governance of their carbon neutrality or carbon-related targets.
Josh Bullard, Divisional Director, Smart Energy and Sustainability at Hydrock, said:
“We’re really pleased to bring onboard someone of Matthew’s calibre to join our SES team at an exciting time as we help our clients on their net carbon zero journey by exploring ways to reduce carbon and reduce cost through more intelligent design, construction and use.”
Matthew joins from EKFB, a joint venture between four civil engineering companies, Eiffage, Kier, Ferrovial Construction and BAM Nuttall, where he was leading the carbon management programme on the central delivery area of HS2 and responsible for one of the largest life cycle assessments undertaken ‒up to 2.1 million tCO2e ‒and achieving a 28% reduction in emissions through detailed design.
Notably, he also led the first Main Works Civil Contractor to achieve third party PAS 2080 (Carbon Management in Infrastructure) verification – a new standard of managing carbon on infrastructure projects.
On joining Hydrock, Matthew added:
“I’m delighted to be joining Hydrock which already has a wealth of knowledge within the energy efficiency area. I see my specific expertise around implementing PAS management systems, such as PAS 2080 and PAS 2060, as complementing our existing offer and helping our clients meet market need, improve innovation, reduce cost and reduce risk.”
At Hydrock, Matthew will lead our SES offer around infrastructure carbon management aligned to PAS 2080, carbon neutrality to PAS2060, and support our wider teams to continue to deliver integrated design consultancy.
