Hydrock delivering apartment and office scheme in Manchester city centre

13th Nov 2019

Our civil, structural, geo-environmental, fire, acoustics and M&E engineering teams are delivering the detailed design for a 24,000 sq ft office and 75-apartment scheme on Bengal Street in Manchester for M4nchester Two Limited, part of the Northern Group.

The nine-storey building within the Ancoats conservation area of Manchester was originally designed by Mecanoo and received planning approval from Manchester City Council in June 2019. Hydrock has been appointed alongside architects Falconer Chester Hall to deliver the detailed design with a completion date set for summer 2021.

Our detailed multi-disciplinary engineering design work will encompass the demolition of a 1950s-built former electrical works and the development of the new scheme which will comprise around 24,000 sq ft of offices across the ground floor, first floor, and second floor and 23 one-bed, 47 two-bed and five three-bed apartments on the upper floors. There is also a communal roof terrace offering rare outside space for both office and residential tenants, including a roof-top amenity room.
