Multi-disciplinary appointment with BAM on ESFA-funded college in Cornwall

5th Feb 2018

Hydrock is delighted to be supporting BAM Construction to deliver a £16 million range of new teaching facilities for Helston Community College in Cornwall.

The scheme is funded through the regional priority school building programme of the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA), and Hydrock’s team in the south-west are delivering building services, civil and structural engineering, flood risk assessment, acoustic engineering, transport planning and ground investigation services on the scheme.

Helston Community College is situated across two sites, north and south. This programme will result in a new teaching block on the north site which will also provide a dining hall, sports hall and ancillary accommodation, with existing buildings being subsequently demolished to accommodate modern sports pitches.

Working collaboratively with BAM Construction and architects, Stride Treglown, our work has taken into consideration the slope of the ground in designing and locating the building, and the importance of keeping services and utilities running to existing buildings while others on campus are being demolished.

Work on Helston Community College has begun on site and hand over is expected in early 2020.
