Hydrock’s geo expertise paves the way for Northstone to build new-style homes
13th May 2020Hydrock’s geo-environmental expertise assisted northern-based homebuilder and placemaker, Northstone, with the development of a site for 150 new-style homes in Westhoughton, Bolton.
Our Manchester based Land Quality team helped the Northstone team to secure planning approval for the four-hectare site. Hydrock was commissioned to carry out site investigations, geotechnical design, remediation design and materials management planning for the site. We have also overseen the work of the earthworks contractor to ensure the site has been de-risked and is ready for development.
The development will provide a mix of highly energy efficient two, three and four bed homes to meet local housing needs. The new-style homes, built in a pedestrian led development, will embrace smart living with options to switch living and kitchen/dining areas to the front or back of the house and automate heating and electricity.
Northstone, part of Peel Land & Property, received planning permission at the end of 2019, with construction now underway. It is the first scheme in Northstone’s portfolio following the launch of the housebuilder in October 2018.
