Infrastructure design contributes to planning approval on Central Quay, Cardiff
19th Jul 2018Acting for Rightacres Property Co Ltd, our civils and infrastructure specialists in Cardiff have contributed to the successful planning application on Phase 1 of the Central Quay development in Cardiff that will regenerate the Brains Brewery site.
Phase 1 of the Rightacres development scheme accounts for c200,000 sq ft of offices and a seven-storey, 695-space car park for what will ultimately be a major riverside destination comprising a mixed use scheme of well over 2 million sq ft.
Working with Rightacres and its chosen architect for Phase 1, Rio Architects, our infrastructure team in Cardiff contributed:
- Overall site masterplan drainage strategy
- Overall site masterplan flood consequences report
- Environmental Statement Chapters for flood and water resources
- Phase 1 Design and Access Statement input
In addition, our Building Performance Engineering team has supported with acoustics, air quality and micro climate modelling for the site as a whole.
The development will eventually link up with Central Square which includes the BBC’s new headquarters and Cardiff’s new bus station at Central Square. Construction of Phase 1 should start later this year.
