19th Jul 2018

Acting for Rightacres Property Co Ltd, our civils and infrastructure specialists in Cardiff have contributed to the successful planning application on Phase 1 of the Central Quay development in Cardiff that will regenerate the Brains Brewery site.

Phase 1 of the Rightacres development scheme accounts for c200,000 sq ft of offices and a seven-storey, 695-space car park for what will ultimately be a major riverside destination comprising a mixed use scheme of well over 2 million sq ft.

Working with Rightacres and its chosen architect for Phase 1, Rio Architects, our infrastructure team in Cardiff contributed:

  • Overall site masterplan drainage strategy
  • Overall site masterplan flood consequences report
  • Environmental Statement Chapters for flood and water resources
  • Phase 1 Design and Access Statement input

In addition, our Building Performance Engineering team has supported with acoustics, air quality and micro climate modelling for the site as a whole.

The development will eventually link up with Central Square which includes the BBC’s new headquarters and Cardiff’s new bus station at Central Square. Construction of Phase 1 should start later this year.
