Hydrock has delivered infrastructure and structural engineering consultancy services to Lovell Homes to support the redevelopment of a former school in Cwmbran into a high quality residential estate.
We have provided a range of services from site appraisal through to construction to Lovell Homes for this new housing development in Cwmbran, near Newport in south-east Wales, which includes social housing and affordable units. Our design works included extensive Section 38 highway design and adoption, and an extensive sustainable drainage system to reduce the flood risk to the development and off-site properties.
Through the engineering appraisal stage, we set out a range of surface water drainage strategies to Lovell Homes to meet the requirements of both Dwr Cymru Welsh Water and the local authority. Our engineering solutions were also designed to reduce the impact on above ground space in terms of the number of units or public open space.
Close dialogue with both the water authority and the local council ensured that approval was given and the relevant planning conditions were successfully discharged.
Our work has also included a highway access junction scheme with both vehicle and pedestrian access. We designed an efficient and cost-effective solution which avoided extensive off-site works, successfully negotiating a number of relaxations with the local highway authority.
The development is scheduled for completion by the end of 2019.
